Day 1:
- Arrival in Bahir Dar: Upon your arrival in Bahir Dar, our representative will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel. You will have some … … … time to rest and relax before starting your tour.
- Lake Tana Boat Trip: In the afternoon, we will take a boat trip to Lake Tana, the largest lake in Ethiopia. You will visit some of the ancient monasteries located on the islands of the lake, such as Ura Kidane Mehret and Azwa Maryam. You will have the opportunity to learn about the rich history and religious significance of these monasteries.
Day 2:
- Blue Nile Falls: After breakfast, we will visit the magnificent Blue Nile Falls, also known as “Tis Issat” meaning “Smoking Water” in Amharic. You will witness the power and beauty of the falls as the water plunges down the gorge, creating a spectacular sight. You can take a short hike to get closer to the falls and feel the mist on your face.
Day 3:
- Drive to Gonder: After breakfast, we will drive to Gonder, known as the “Camelot of Africa” due to its rich history and impressive castles. Upon arrival, we will visit the Royal Enclosure, a UNESCO World Heritage site, which includes the famous Fasil Ghebbi castle complex. You will explore the various castles, churches, and other historical buildings within the enclosure. You will also visit the Debre Berhan Selassie Church, known for its beautiful frescoes and ceiling artwork.
Day 4:
- Simien Mountains Day Trip: After breakfast, we will embark on a day trip to the Simien Mountains National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its stunning landscapes and unique wildlife. You will have the opportunity to enjoy the breathtaking scenery, including deep valleys, jagged cliffs, and endemic wildlife such as the Gelada baboons and Ethiopian wolves. You can take short hikes and enjoy a picnic lunch amidst the stunning nature.
Day 5:
- Bahir Dar City Tour: After breakfast, we will explore the city of Bahir Dar. You will visit the colorful local markets, where you can find traditional crafts, spices, and other local products. You will also visit the Bezawit Hill viewpoint, which offers panoramic views of the city and Lake Tana. In the afternoon, we will transfer you to the airport for your departure flight, marking the end of your Bahir Dar and Gonder tour.
